About

The Pedagogic In-Service Training Program (ISTP) is an educational partnership scheme of the Presbytarian Church in Cameroon (PCC) and the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC). It was founded in 1994 and its first phase went operational in 1997.

The ISTP receives support and cooperates very closely with Bread for the World – Protestant Development Service – Protestant Agency for Diakonia and Development (Brot fuer die Welt- Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst – Evangelisches Werk für Diakonie und Entwicklung e.V.) .

The program covers 34 colleges and over 300 primary/nursery schools of the PCC and CBC. It works with over 700 secondary school teachers and over 1500 primary school teachers within Cameroon. It annually educates ‘teacher trainers’ (so-called multiplicators) in the area of learner-centered and activity-based education.

The ISTP aims at enhancing learner-oriented and child-centered teaching/ learning strategies, thereby improving the quality of the teaching/ learning process in the PCC and CBC schools. It focuses on education for life and education for liberation. This will eventually enable the Cameroonian child to cope with the challenges of the rapidly changing world.
